Northern Plains Research Council needs YOU to be their new Field Organizer: Northern Plains organizers work out of our office in Billings, Montana. Each organizer works with Northern Plains as a whole and also with our locally based affiliate groups, mostly in small, rural communities, and with our issue task forces. Overnight travel averages perhaps 2-3 times a month. As a Northern Plains Organizer, you won't be tied to a desk, you'll meet lots of people, and you'll make change happen at the grassroots level. Qualified candidates will have a commitment to Northern Plains' issues and values, ability to get along well with people from diverse backgrounds, strong speaking and writing skills, ability to travel and be away overnight, willingness to work long hours when needed. Environmental Education Program Associate (AmeriCorps), Environmental Resource Center (Idaho)
The Environmental Resource Center in Sun Valley, ID, is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to promoting a more sustainable environment through community education, awareness and participation.This 11-month AmeriCorps position offers involvement with a wide array of environmental education programs and outreach initiatives. The Program Associate will carry forth an environmental education program for all the elementary schools in the district and implement a number of other youth programs. This person will also facilitate several outreach initiatives for the community, such as community clean up efforts. The overall goal is to raise environmental awareness, promote a more sustainable community and engage community members of all ages in hands-on environmental education activities and awareness initiatives that promote a greater understanding of our natural world.

Work Study with Montana Water Trust: Intern will assist Montana Water Trust staff with implementing our communications plan, including establishing an email listserv, designing an e-news letter template, updating outreach materials and our website, and grant research. Qualifications: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Interest in environmental conservation/ non-profit work is helpful. Experience with document design is a plus. Education Coordinator: The Ohio Division of Wildlife will soon begin accepting applications for the position of Education Coordinator of the Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve (OWC NERR) in Huron along Ohio’s Lake Erie shore (oldwomancreek.org). The Educator Coordinator will have primary responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for K-12 and community audiences. Major initiatives that will be facilitated by the Education Coordinator include the development of new visitor center exhibits and regional implementation of a national K-12 science curriculum focused on estuaries and coastal ecosystems. The Coordinator will contribute to inter-agency partnerships and work with multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, educators, trainers, and natural resource managers to translate ecological research for a range of constituencies. This is a three-year, grant-funded project position (state classification: wildlife communications specialist) with high potential for conversion to agency-funded status.
Field Science Educator: Olympic Park Institute, a campus of NatureBridge: Olympic Park Institute, a campus of NatureBridge, is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching science and environmental education in nature's classroom to inspire personal connections to the natural world and responsible actions to sustain it. Educators are responsible for: leading groups of 10-15 students outdoors for 1-5 day programs in a residential setting; developing and implementing culturally-competent, inquiry-based field science and environmental education curricula for youth and adults, including hikes, lab studies and other educational activities; managing risk in the field. Qualifications include: experience working with youth; BA/BS; teaching credential or master’s degree a plus; two to three years related experience and/or training; experience working with diverse groups; experience teaching in the outdoors; experience with scientific research; effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to implement and model excellent risk management practices and maintain a safe environment for our students; ability to work flexible hours, including evenings; excellent work ethic; current Wilderness First Responder and CPR certifications minimum; current driver’s license. Outreach Coordinator: Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center: The Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center, in Oyster Bay, provides natural science education for school, scout, camp, and family groups. The goals of the programs are to provide direct experiences in nature while involving students and the public in interactive, inquiry-based, hands-on activities focusing on science that lead participants to take conservation action to help preserve wildlife and their habitats. The Sanctuary also conducts scientific research, monitoring avian populations and restoring native ecosystems.
